Why donate my car to Compass Family Services?
San Francisco has the highest rate of homeless families for a major US city, with over 2,000 public school students living without permanent housing. For parents needing to pack up belongings each day, get the kids to school on time, and then spending the day applying for shelter and work, life can be tough and your car donation can make a big difference.
What is my car donation tax deduction?
Compass Family Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. By donating old cars to Compass, you're eligible to receive a tax deduction. For additional tax deduction information, please visit the IRS.gov website or consult your tax advisor. Vehicle donations are managed by CARS. Once you submit your request, they will contact you with the appropriate information and vehicle value.
How does it work?
Our partner organization, Charitable Adult Rides and Services (CARS) will reach out to you to facilitate a car-pickup after completing their form, even if your car is not functioning. They also handle all the DMV paper work, the sale of your vehicle and transfer the sale funds to Compass Family Services.
What kind of cars will Compass Family Services accept?
The car donation program will take new, old and used cars - even non-functioning cars or junkers.
